Taglocity 2.0 beta
I tried using Taglocity 2.0. When it comes to finding data, Taglocity's ability to filter Outlook folders is great. All of the emails without the specified tag(s) simply vanish from the Outlook explorer (mail folder view). I really like being able to use all of the norrmal Outlook searching and sorting on results. This much nicer than working with search results from Windows Desktop Search, Google Desktop Search, or Lookout.
If I could just get someone to do all the tagging. I tagged almost all of my 8,000 emails over a weekend, and that went OK, but on-the-fly manual tagging just takes too much time and effort, and if I forget to tag an email, it is effectively lost. Their auto-tagging is nice, but it doesn't know what I consider to be the topic-keyword for the message.
Also, it insists on connecting to its server in order for the Outlook plug-in to work. What happens when Taglocity goes out of business or drops support for v2.0?

Taglocity clarification
Just a quick point of clarification Kevin - you only need to sign in once with Taglocity to activate. After that it works fine forever without any connection to any server.
Also, the search works great even without tags so you don't need to always tag everything...just try to tag the email you'd normally take the time to move into other folders - tagging is quicker than that! Remember too that you automatically assign tags based on your criteria like messages containing certain keywords, or from a specific sender, etc.

Taglocity server connection
Hi Kevin
Thanks for the feedback on Taglocity. Just one point of clarification. We only require you to connect to the server the first time you use Taglocity. After you've connected for the first time you can clear your login information and you need never sign in again. All the standard features of Taglocity will still continue to work even if you're not connecting to our server. If this isn't working for you, please don't hesitate to contact support at support@taglocity.com
We require the initial connection to the server for two reasons:
1. It tells us how many people are using Taglocity.
2. When you connect to our server, we store your tags configuration online, so that if you use Taglocity from multiple computers you can keep your tags in sync. But that's up to you. If you don't need that feature then you can clear your login info.
Cheers
Martin
